To the holy places! Uplistsikhe-Mtskheta-Jvari
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Departure to the cave city Uplistsikhe – the city is unique in that there are practically no more well-preserved ancient cities in Georgia. The cave city, carved in the sandstone along the Kura, was one of the transshipment points on the Silk Road. We will have the opportunity to explore this ancient complex with residential caves, wine cellars, bakeries, an ancient theater, as well as visit the medieval basilica.
- Then visit Mtskheta – a city-museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Five shrines of the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral named after the 12 Apostles. The place where, according to sacred legend, in the 4th century cedar grew in the garden of the royal palace, which later became a sacred tree. Jvari is a masterpiece of classical architecture with a Byzantine echo and the most “branded” viewing platform, which offers a breathtaking view of the mountain scenery, the confluence of two rivers and the city itself.
- Lunch at the tavern. The most delicious beans in pots with corn tortilla are in the “folk tavern” itself (from 15 GEL). Return to Tbilisi.
- In the evening, a master class in the famous Phaeton restaurant. Real Georgian dinner, fine wine, unforgettable food, fiery songs and dances !. (extra charge: 25 €).
- Return to the hotel
